Julie Chéhadé

Musician, educator, and creator, Julie Chehade has been immersed in the world of music since early childhood. She began studying the violin at the age of four and continued her training at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal until the age of seventeen, before turning to classical voice at Vanier College. She later pursued studies in music composition at the Université de Montréal.

Although she enjoys performing, Julie is above all a musician guided by attentive listening. Fascinated by polyphony, intonation, and the balance of voices, she has developed a particular interest in choral and instrumental arranging. She enjoys revealing the relationships between musical lines to create ensembles that are rich, cohesive, and expressive.

Alongside her musical journey, Julie has long been fascinated by languages and the discovery of cultures. She holds a bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Nanjing Normal University and has devoted many years to language learning and life abroad. An accomplished polyglot, she attributes much of this passion to the same attentive ear that shapes her relationship with music. For Julie, the ear is both a musical and a linguistic instrument, allowing her to perceive nuances of pronunciation, the unique sounds of each language, and the subtleties of human communication.

Julie is also a professional educator. She holds both a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education from the University of Toronto and has worked full-time in education for many years. Whether supporting school-aged children, post-secondary students, or members of the community, she is driven by a desire to help others develop their full potential and flourish in a supportive and enriching environment.

In 2021, Julie founded Voices of the Street, a non-profit organization dedicated to educational success, human development, and creating learning opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds. Today, she continues to pursue her musical projects while developing initiatives that foster connections across cultures, communities, and generations.
